Urban Water

Programs

The Department of Water and Energy manages programs that aim to improve the levels of service in water supply and sewerage services in country areas of NSW.

The Country Towns Water Supply and Sewerage Program provides technical and financial assistance to local water utilities to better plan and manage their water supply and sewerage businesses. The technical initiatives are described in the section on planning and best practice. The financial assistance is described in the Country Towns Water Supply and Sewerage Program.

The Aboriginal Water Supply and Sewerage Program provides technical and financial assistance to improve the level of water supply and sewerage services in selected Aboriginal communities to the same level expected in the wider community.

The Department of Water and Energy works in partnership with local water utilities in regional NSW to manage town water supplies during drought. Drought relief can include drought management plans, manage depleted water supplies, implement emergency capital works or to cart water, depending on the particular situation.
