Hunter Regional Algal Coordinating Committee
The Hunter RACC coordinates responses to algal blooms in the Hunter region. Local water-body management authorities are responsible for the appropriate notification of alerts, primarily through the issuing of media releases and erection of appropriate signage to identify algal blooms in water-bodies under their jurisdiction. A copy of the risk management plan for marine and freshwater algal management for the hunter can be obtained by contacting the Hunter RACC co-ordinator.
The Hunter RACC coordinates the dissemination of these individual algal alerts to other RACC members and the broader community through the NSW Office of Water's algal telephone 'hotline' and alerts notifications on this website.
