NSW Government reform
On 27 July 2009 the NSW government issued Administrative Orders abolishing the Department of Water and Energy and establishing two new agencies to manage the functions of the former Department.
Water
The water responsibilities of the former Department will be managed by the NSW Office of Water, which is a separate office within the new Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water.
Energy
The energy responsibilities of the former Department will be managed by the Division of Energy and Minerals within the new Department of Industry and Investment.
