The NSW Office of Water operates a commercial Groundwater Drilling Unit based at Dubbo. This unit specialises in the larger and more difficult projects where few contractors have the expertise or equipment. It undertakes drilling projects all over New South Wales and has equipment and logistical support allowing it to drill and camp on site in remote areas. The unit has a range of drilling equipment suitable for many types of projects and can be contracted to undertake a number of services.

The unit specialises in:

  • Deep artesian bores to a depth of 1300 metres
  • Reconditioning of artesian bores
  • Headwork repairs of hot artesian bores
  • Large diameter town water bores
  • Chemical treatment of large diameter bores for iron hydroxide
  • Deep groundwater monitoring bores rotary mud and air techniques
  • Casing advance drilling large diameter
  • Geophysical logging to depths of 1500 metres
  • Pump testing of water bores.
